Soft Wall

Soft Wall is a wall for defining, dividing and storing is a soft, functional, sculpture-like piece at the same time. A soft, functional, sculpture like piece, Soft Wall is the ideal solution for defining, dividing and storing. Designed to accommodate the objects we need only from time to time (which would otherwise take up space on small tables, on shelves and in containers), Soft Wall is also a dividing wall that can be used in both the home and office since it adapts to the requirements of the location where it is used. Crafted in felt and available in two sizes, it rests on a metal frame.

Get Loaded

Load lets you cradle your gadgets while charging them.

Cara Barer Photography

Texan photographer Cara Barer takes absolutely beautiful photographs of books - worn, tattered, curled up old books.
Cara gets the effect by soaking books in her bathtub...

"
My photographs are primarily a documentation of a physical evolution. I have changed a common object into sculpture in a state of flux.

The way we choose to research and find information is also in an evolution. I hope to raise questions about these changes, the ephemeral and fragile nature in witch we now obtain knowledge, and the future of books."

Beth Cavener Stichter

"The sculptures I create focus on human psychology – stripped of context and rationalization, and articulated through animal and human forms. This body of work was developed in an effort to understand how my own desires, fears, and insecurities have shaped my sexuality.

For this work, I collected stories from individuals who were willing to confide their most intimate experiences relating to gender identity, fantasies, fetishes, and abuses. I wanted to understand how these complex private experiences haunt our public persona's.

The portraits created for this exhibition found their genesis in these shared personal accounts; I took their stories in and merged them with my own. The figures which have emerged use their animal body language in an effort to communicate their human natures: coy, desperate, lonely, and full of both fear and an unspoken longing."

Here Are Some Really Crazy Shoes

Is that just an ordinary robe hook?

update (5/26/07) If you click on the picture it will take you to the site where I found these. However, it is in a language that I do not recognize. I do not know the story behind these shoes. I think the only place you could wear these would be a freak show or and erotica event or perhaps if you were some sort of bird for Halloween. They are super crazy and probably were someone's art installation.
Cheers

FTF Design Studio

FTF Design Studio is the furniture line of Roseann Repetti and her husband, architect West Chin. They are based in the meatpacking district and together have designed and decorated the homes of Christy Turlington/Ed Burns, Shalom Harlow, Alexis/Oren Glick, Francois Nars, Regan Cameron, Michael Thompson & more. Reacting to the overall enthusiasm they received from their clients and peers, West and Roseann decided to launch a home line created for their private clients to the public.

FTF's latest pieces are in Corian (typically used for kitchen counters & baths), The collection also includes elements like Walnut, Bamboo & Lacquer. FTF is a pioneer in using Corian for accessories and has become proficient in creating hand finished home products that result in a versatile & forgivable surface for the home, kitchen and bath.

Roseann Repetti cultivated her sensibility for fabrics, textures and home via her extensive 17 year career in fashion. Previously, Roseann was a fashion editor & stylist for various magazine titles, including Elle, Italian Vogue & Marie Claire and has worked alongside top fashion photographers including Steven Meisel, Walter Chin, Patrick Demarchelier, Arthur Elgort and Pamela Hanson. Roseann brings a very luxurious, modern understanding of design to FTF.

West Chin's philosophy is to combine comfort and versatility with a modern, clean and pragmatic approach. West is constantly in pursuit of merging style with functionality, a process that he was exposed to at a young age through his architect father. West subsequently started a design/build firm which is the synthesis of creation and execution is the foundation of his practice. FTF is short for "First to Fly", which is the translation in Chinese of West's middle name, Yit Fee, which symbolizes the first born son in America.

FTF was featured in New York Magazine "The City's 100 Best Architects and Decorators" and has been published in the New York Times, Harpers Bazaar, Vogue, Interior Design, Elle Décor, HC&G, Loft, Dwell, and Gourmet.
